Pay when you put your name on the sign up sheet in the shop (cash will not be accepted, check only). The cutoff date will be the Saturday prior to the tournament weekend.

Membership Renewal: Applications can be picked up at the pro shop or on Tournament day. They can be filled out and returned to the shop or turned in at the Tournament. Don't panic if you cannot put your scores in the computer at the pro shop. We are working hard to get everyone in the system and that should be completed on the 15th of January. New members will not be listed until the 15th, which is when the AGA updates their computer.

Handicaps: Tempe Men's Club uses the USGA Handicap System. Please see section 10 of the USGA Handicap System Manual for detailed information. The following is a recap of section 10.2 guidelines used to figure handicaps (tournament scores only):

If you have 5 or 6 scores posted the program uses the lowest 1 score. 7 or 8 scores, lowest 2; 9 or 10 scores, lowest 3; 11 or 12 scores, lowest 4; 13 or 14 scores, lowest 5; 15 or 16 scores, lowest 6; 17 scores, lowest 7; 18 scores, lowest 8; 19 scores, lowest 9 and, finally, 20 scores, lowest 10. All of this is per the USGA, which our program uses.
-->
Rules: If you have a rules question while playing a round of golf in a Tournament, please play a second ball. When you finish your round, you must then check with the Tournament board (there should be at least two of us there most of the time) to get a proper ruling. If we need to get assistance from a rule book or the pro we will do so. Bottom line is this: if you sign your scorecard without getting a ruling from the Tempe Men’s Club Tournament board, you will be disqualified.

In the past, several rulings have been made by people other than the Tournament board (the guys who set up the Tournaments) and have resulted in a disqualification of the member once we heard of it. Don’t let it happen to you! Get a ruling from the board before you sign your scorecard.

Sign Your Card: If you do not sign your scorecard YOU will be disqualified. You are signing your scorecard for your score and your score only.

Ken McDonald Golf Course
Local Rules

USGA Rules Govern All Play

Click the Link to Download or Print: 2019 USGA Rules of Golf PDF-162 Pages (Click Here)

* Any ball hit into the water on #8, no matter how it got there or where it goes in, must be played from the drop zone below the tee box.
